Sywell festival features something for everyone

| 26 Jun 2013

The inaugural Sywell Classic Pistons and Props festival will be held on 28-29 September.

The event – which is based at Sywell Aerodrome – will feature live action from more than 75 historic vehicles, covering everything from single-seaters to sports cars and saloons.

The event's Sprint Strip will bring dragsters and motorcycles head-to-head as two- and four-wheeled machinery does battle on the 200-metre straight.

Clubs will be out in force, too, with marques spanning 80 years, covering classic and vintage motoring, while aviation groups will bring assorted old and new planes.

The air displays are set to include Spitfires, Tiger Moths, Chipmunks, Wilgas, Be2s and (weather permitting) Tomahawk trainers.

Music will be laid on by groups including Elle & the Pocket Belles, The Hound Dogs, The Swinging Blue Jeans and Sounds Force Five.

Reduced-rate tickets are available at £14 for adults, £5 for children (aged 5-15), while under-5s go free. Call 08448 540064 for more details.

Tickets will also be available on the door.

Camping pitches (for two adults and two children, or three adults) are priced at £70 in advance and can be booked by calling 01775 768661.
