Thunderous American classics star at Brands Hatch

Nearly 1000 classic American cars were on display at this year’s American SpeedFest on Sunday at Brands Hatch.

The event, created to celebrate American motor sport, was a huge success.

Thousands of enthusiasts gathered to watch classic racers scrap for position on the tight Indy circuit.

George Silbermann, NASCAR Regional and Touring Series Vice President, said:

“We’re putting together the calendar for next year’s schedule and Brands Hatch is a big part of it. We’ll definitely be back again and again.”

In addition to the classic Mustangs, Falcons and Corvettes was a replica of Richard Petty’s 1970 SuperBird.

More than 45 special cars made famous by films were also featured, such as the De Lorean from Back to the Future and the General Lee from the Dukes of Hazzard.

Fans were given the opportunity to meet the drivers for autographs, and offered free pit walks, plus access to the cars.

Next year’s event will take place on 7-8 June.
