Affection for British motors is alive and well outside of Britain, as more than 1500 cars and motorcycles gathered in Morges for the Swiss Classic British Meeting on 2 October.
The 111th year of Riley was among the anniversary celebrations, and saw a stunning array of Riley vehicles taking pride of place in the chateau grounds of the lakeside town. Star of the group was a Rallye des Alpes-winning Brooklands. Also there were a mint-condition Pathfinder and some Elfs from the BMC era.
Nearby, the ornamental Parc de l'Independence was renamed Le Parc de Triumph just for the day to mark 80 years since the formation of the Triumph Motor Company, with a Le Mans-entrant 'Sabrina'-engined TRS paying exceptional tribute.
This year will see the 20th-anniversary meet on 1 October: see www.british-cars.ch for details.
