Save Donington!

| 13 May 2010

Some 8000 motor sport supporters headed to Leicestershire for the Save Donington protest on 7 March.
Lee Combs, mastermind behind the event, was overwhelmed by the turn-out: "Where else can you see an Austin Seven next to a Lotus Elise, with a drag bike nearby?"
Well over 1000 vehicles were on show from more than 50 clubs, including Subarus, BMWs, TVRs and Porsches. Alan Sutcliffe of Capri Club International said: "The event brought together people who wouldn't usually go to the same show."
The track is now in a real state, with tarmac ripped up every few hundred yards, no Armco and a waterlogged infield. "It'll take £1.5 million just to put it back to how it was," said circuit owner Kevin Wheatcroft.
