Porsche 911 to thrill historic motor sport crowds

| 22 Mar 2013

A classic Porsche 911 christened Project 50 will mark the model’s 50-year career in motor sport by racing at events across the globe with a host of big-name drivers.

Around two thirds of nearly 30,000 Porsche race victories can be attributed to the 911.

To honour this, Porsche GB’s Project 50 car will appear with aces such as 1970 Le Mans-winner Richard Attwood behind the wheel at selected Masters Series events and festivals including the Nürburgring OldTimer GP and the Silverstone Classic.

One of 6607 short-wheelbase 2-litre cars built from 1964-’68, this example was delivered new to Italy and, having spent time in America, was shipped to the UK in the late ’90s where it was fully restored and converted for life as an FIA-approved race car.
