Sir Stirling Moss reminisces as JD Classics opens its doors

| 21 Nov 2012

Tickets to Breakfast at JD Classics’ Q&A session were snapped up in record time as racing legend Sir Stirling Moss OBE captivated the crowd in Maldon on 18 November.

C&SC’s Simon Taylor compèred the event as the former racer shared memories of the Cooper 500, his near-fatal accident at Goodwood in 1962 and talked about the changing face of motor sport. “In my day when the racing was done we went off and chased girls. Now they go and say thanks to Vodafone,” he quipped.

Special guest was Mission Motorsport, the charity that aids the recovery and rehabilitation of those affected by military operations by providing opportunities through motor sport.

The event also gave visitors the chance to get up close to the firm’s current projects including classic Mercedes-Benz 300 SLs, Ferraris and Jaguars.

Derek Hood, Managing Director of JD Classics, said:  “Having Sir Stirling Moss as the guest speaker along with his associated charity, Mission Motorsport, was the perfect way to finish off JD Classics’ events for 2012.

“After a successful debut-racing season with Jaguar Heritage Racing, we are now all eyes on 2013.”
