Jennie Taylor and her 1932 Alfa Romeo Tipo B P3 monoposto won the inaugural Levitt Concours in 2022

So, what is the Levitt Concours? It is a 30-car concours exclusively for classic cars with female owners and, after a successful debut in 2022, it returns this year.

It is named after Dorothy Levitt, a British racing driver and journalist whose exploits behind the wheel inspired more women to take up motoring.

She died more than a century ago, but is still recognised as a pioneer in early motorsport.

On the Saturday of Concours of Elegance, 2 September, the 30 participating vehicles will take part in a driving tour from the Guards Polo Club, Windsor, to Hampton Court Palace, where the cars will be displayed and judged.

A 1932 Alfa Romeo Tipo B P3 monoposto won the Levitt Concours trophy in 2022.

If you’d like to take part, check out the website for more information and email chrissy@thoroughevents.co.uk with your application by Friday 18 August.

A Ford Capri 2.8 injection won the Thirty Under 30 concours at Hampton Court Palace in 2022

The Thirty Under 30 concours will also return in 2023, on Sunday 3 September.

Another part of Concours of Elegance that aims to broaden the event’s appeal and encourage the next generation of classic car owners, it is open to anyone aged 30 and under who owns a classic car built between 1900 and 1999.

And where a traditional concours might focus on the condition, originality and provenance of the car, here the emphasis is on the stories behind the cars and the owners’ experiences.

From all those who apply, a shortlist of 30 cars will be selected to go to Hampton Court Palace, where the judging is done by the owners themselves – last year’s trophy went to a Ford Capri 2.8 injection.

Applications for the Thirty Under 30 concours are open now and close on Friday 18 August. Email iain@thoroughevents.co.uk to get involved and find out more here.
