Inaugural GP winner makes Donington return

| 22 Apr 2013

The Alfa Romeo Tipo B that won the 1935 Donington GP with Richard ‘Mad Jack’ Shuttleworth at the wheel will lead a list of Grand Prix classics at this year’s Donington Historic Festival from 3-5 May.

Racing in their national colours, the grid for the Historic Grand Prix Car Association Nuvolari Trophy Race includes another Alfa Tipo B, a Monza, 1750GS, Bugatti T35s, T37s and a T39, numerous ERAs, a raucous Frazer-Nash Nurburg, Maseratis, and a Talbot-Lago T26SS.

Named after Tazio Nuvolari – the charismatic Italian who took his Auto Union to victory at Donington in ’38 – practice for the cup will run on Friday morning, with race one setting off at 12:30pm on Saturday and race two at 2pm on Sunday.

Advance tickets can be bought via the circuit’s website, or by calling 08448 737355, and are priced at £12 for Friday, £20 for Saturday or Sunday, and £36 for all three days.
