New GT and Touring Car series on the cards for 2014

| 25 Sep 2013

The Classic Sports Car Club is reviving the Classic K series with a special race at Snetterton on 20 October and a view to running a whole series in 2014.

Organisers are planning rounds at Brands Hatch, Snetterton, Silverstone, Donington and Oulton Park  for GT and Touring cars running to FIA Appendix K, but with no sports racers on the grid.

There will be seven classes running from under 1300cc to over 2700cc, plus a special class for Jaguar E-types and another for Marcos, Lotus Elan and Ginetta G4.

The races will be one-hour long plus 30 minutes of qualifying for one or two drivers, but with a compulsory pit-stop.

Entry is £345 per car and the CSCC says that the series is a response to members who "are seeking better value for money racing than is currently available in the FIA Appendix K market place".

Entrants' cars  must comply to Appendix K – running ion Dunlop L or M tyres – but need not have HTP papers. Electronic Ignition is allowed as long as the distributor is the sole means of timing, but n crank sensors or management systems are permitted. All V8 cars must run to a minimum weight of 1000 kilos.
