Revival to be charmed by snakes

Lord March has confirmed rumours that he will honour the 50th birthday of the AC Cobra with a dedicated race at next year’s Goodwood Revival.

The annual three-day historic motor sport extravaganza at the West Sussex circuit from 14-16 September will feature a 30-strong grid in a Cobra-only race to celebrate the golden anniversary of the Anglo-American sports car.

Like this year's E-type Fordwater Trophy, the race will last 45 minutes and follow a two-driver format, with a mandatory stop between 15 and 30 minutes.

Goodwood is expecting the race to attract a mixture of historically significant competition Cobras, including some of the special-bodied aerodynamic Cobra-based coupes.

The Revival organisers are also hoping that AC creator Carroll Shelby will be able to attend the celebrations.
