Silverstone confirms race at dusk for pre-1966 GTs

A 58-car grid packed full of AC Cobras, Alfa Romeo TZs, Aston Martin DB4s, Ferrari 250LMs and Jaguar E-types will take to the famous tarmac for a twilight race at the Silverstone Classic from 26-28 July.

The Piper Heidsieck International Trophy is a special one-hour, two-driver showdown featuring the world’s finest classic GTs.

Event director Nick Wigely said: “We believe the grid will be substantially over-subscribed to the extent that we are setting up a special selection committee.

“All potential entrants are being asked to provide compelling photographs, information and provenance about their cars, which will then be evaluated by the committee before a final entry list is confirmed in early June.”

The newly announced contest adds to a huge race programme showcasing more than 1000 cars covering everything from single-seaters to Touring Cars and Group C.
