Speed into Spring set to thrill the Midlands

| 29 Apr 2013

Classics ranging from a Ford Model A to a Lotus 61 will tackle the Shelsley Walsh hillclimb from 4-5 May.

As one of the classes at the Speed in Spring meeting, the Paul Matty Lotus Championship will feature everything from a Lotus Buick to a 51A and Type 69 FS.

More period racers will compete in Class M2 – for cars manufactured up until 1971 – and in Class N for machines built before ’85. The latter will include vehicles such as the March 772P and McLaren M18.

The day’s fastest times are likely to come from the TTC Group Midland Hill Climb Championship, which will feature single-seater racing cars – some fitted with F1-derived engines.

Each day the course will also host a parade of Morris cars as the marque celebrates its 100th birthday.

Entry is priced at £10 on Saturday, £12 on Sunday or £20 for the weekend, while under-16s go free.

Tickets can be bought via the event’s website.
