Star car announced for Brooklands Double Twelve

| 6 Mar 2013

The 50th anniversary of the Mini Cooper ‘S’ will be celebrated at this year’s Brooklands Double Twelve with a class devoted to the model in the Sprint Competition on 15 June.

The Cooper ‘S’ has already been listed as a feature class for the Double Twelve Driving Tests, which will host the famous Bentley Pacey-Hassan Special in the vintage group.

Held on 15-16 June, the weekend will mark the centenaries of Aston Martin and the Vauxhall 30-98, plus 50 years of the Mercedes-Benz Pagoda.

The weekend is split into three standalone events comprising a speed trial, driving test and concours, the latter being held on both days.

To win the coveted Brooklands Double Twelve award, entrants must compete in any two of the three disciplines, with the combined score of those deciding their placing.

Entry forms for all the competitions are available to download via the Double Twelve pages on the Museum and VSCC websites.

Organisers hope to improve on the pus-200 cars that attended last year’s gathering, which was the biggest held at Brooklands since the venue closed in 1939.
