Unmissable touring cars come to Silverstone

| 11 Jul 2012

A grid of more than 40 touring cars spanning from the ’70s through to the ’90s will be at the Silverstone Classic powered by the AA, on 20-22 July.

The track will host four of Ford’s RS500 Sierras (the car we featured in July’s C&SC) plus Jaguar XJS and XJC Coupés, Audi’s 80, BMW’s 635, M3 and M3 DTM; Ford’s Capri and Escort, Talbot’s Sunbeam and Vauxhall’s Cavalier and Belmont.

Cars will compete in the double-header Fujifilm Classic Touring Car Trophy.

Silverstone Classic event director Nick Wigley said: “We don’t believe such a diverse grid of touring cars has ever been put together before and it’s going to be a must-see spectacle for not just all classic motor sport enthusiasts but also the many tens of thousands of fans of all ages who have followed touring car racing down the years.”
