Lesser-spotted Lambo set for Silverstone auction

Just 13 of Lamborghini’s angular Diablo SV supercars are currently registered in the UK – and you’ll be able to buy one for an estimated £130,000 this May.

A 1997 example of the Super Veloce is set to sell at Silverstone’s May Auction come 19 May and it’s quite the stunning bull.

Made rarer by its right-hand drive setup, this late-’90s Lambo is no common sight on UK roads, not least thanks to its unusual and atypically subtle metallic green colour scheme – not to mention an extensive service history dating right back to 1997.

One of just 13 Diablo SVs currently registered in the UK

If the Diablo is the quintessential ‘90s supercar – angular, capable of exceeding 200mph and more than a little bit capricious – then the Diablo SV is its tail-happy cousin, channelling 517bhp through the rear wheels and a manual gearbox.

The Diablo SV broke cover at the Geneva Motor Show in 1995 and in many ways it was a swansong for the rear-wheel drive Lamborghini, as the majority of its successors utilised the all-wheel drive system first seen on 1993’s Diablo VT.

Though it’s not known exactly how many SV models were built, fewer than 2900 Diablos made it into existence – and just 13 SVs came to the UK, of which the example up for auction is one.

517bhp through the rear wheels made the Diablo SV quite the handful

Having covered a respectable 33,000 miles in its two decades on the road, it’s believed to be the only Diablo SV factory-ordered with the GT rear wing – which will be bundled in for the winning bidder – and it also comes equipped with a sports exhaust system that’s sure to do justice to that 5.7-litre V12.

Besides a host of mod-cons – including an Alcantara and black leather interior complete with green piping to complement the exterior finish – it’s also set to sell with its original tools, books and documents.

Interested? With an upper estimate of £150,000, it might be time to re-assess those savings if you fancy adding this Lambo to your garage. Head over to the Silverstone Auctions website for more information.
