  • Chater's on the move

    Chater’s, the motor and motor sport bookseller, is heading back to Hook, Hampshire to newly refurbished premises that will increase the company’s floor space and include a customer showroom (open 9am-5.30pm on week days). The move will take place on October 10th and the new address is Unit 25/26, Murrell Green Business Park, London Road, Hook, RG27 9GR.

  • TR6 bootlids available

    British Motor Heritage (BMH) has relaunched the TR6 bootlid. It costs £350 and is available through the BMH dealer network. BMH MD John Yea said: “When we purchased BMH from BMW in 2001, the tooling for the outer skin panel of the TR6 bootlid was missing. Though there was sufficient stock to allow us to support production through to May 2008, we have sadly been unable to supply this important item since that time." Until now.

  • RIP Willie Rutherford

    Rally driver Willie Rutherford has died. Rutherford competed in a vast array of cars including Porsche 911, rotary-engined Mazdas, Ford Sierra 4x4, Escorts and, probably most famously, a Metro 6R4. Hitting a purple patch in the mid-'80s, Rutherford recorded wins on the Granite City Rally and Cumbria Rally in 1985 and the Yorkshire Rally the following year. Rutherford hung up his boots in 1986, but re-emerged in 2008 in New Zealand (to where he had moved) to drive a Porsche 911 on the Silver Fern Rally.

    The Last American Hero, the Jeff Bridges movie based on the early life of moonshiner and racer Junior Johnson, is finally getting a DVD release. Recommended retail price in the UK is £15.99 and it is out on 12 September.

  • New BRDC President

    Derek Warwick has been elected as the new BRDC President. Warwick's racing career included 11 seasons and 147 starts in F1, wins in the prestigious Le Mans 24 hours race and the World Sportscar Championship, plus three seasons in the British Touring Car Championship. He takes over the role from Damon Hill OBE.

  • RIP José Rosinski

    We were saddened to hear of the death of French racer and journalist José Rosinski. Second only to Jo Schlesser in the 1961 French FJ championship, he also raced many times at Le Mans, his best result being 9th in 1967 sharing an Alpine with Henri Grandsire. Along with Gerard 'Jabby' Crombac, Rosinski was one of the founder writers at Sport Auto in 1962 and later in life carved out a career as a commentator on French TV.
