An avid Ferrari collector and keen historic racer, Violati's prized 250GTO was the star of his Maranello Rosso museum in San Marino.
Having owned it since '65, when he paid about £1400 for chassis 3851, Violati claimed the longest ownership of this exotic: "I saved the car from scrap and hid it from my parents. I only drove it at night so nobody would see me."
