Rain dampens Pom battle

After coming close in previous events, Dudley Sterry's challenge through the five tests finally came good with the blown Riley 12/4-powered HRG-based special at the Vintage Sports-Car Club's Pomeroy Trophy.
The 27 February event saw wet weather at Silverstone marring Adrian Goding's challenge with his 2-litre twin-cam powered Ford 'Fiatina' Mk1 Cortina. Goding just missed out on the 25-lap target but still finished second.
Triple winner Patrick Blakeney-Edwards switched from chain-drive to post-war Bristol-engined Frazer Nash and still managed third, despite a 10-point penalty for having no hood.
The weather also affected the third speed trial, which was stopped twice after first a Morgan, then a Mustang, spun into the muddy infield.
