Members’ cars will form a further attraction on 9 July

For the first edition of its concours, the RAC will award prizes to seven categories of classic cars and ’bikes.

The concours classes for 2025 are: Mille Miglia, Limousines, Grand Tourers, Coachbuilder’s Art, Brighton (for pre-1905 Veteran Car Run participants), Riviera and Looks a Pillion Dollars, the latter for classic ’bikes.

As well as vying for victory at a divisional level and the Best of Show accolade, there is a People’s Choice prize that will be voted for by showgoers.

Star cars already revealed include a 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300SLR in the Mille Miglia set and the colourful 1964 Rolls-Royce Phantom V, originally owned by John Lennon, in the Limousines category.

In addition to the concours, expect several feature displays including celebrations of 75 years of Formula One, 125 years of the 1000 Mile Trial and 120 years of the Tourist Trophy.

The 75th anniversary of BRM, who won the 1962 F1 constructors’ title, will also be honoured with a special showcase, one of the highlights of which will be the gas-turbine-powered 1965 Rover-BRM campaigned by Graham Hill and Sir Jackie Stewart at that year’s Le Mans 24 Hours.

This experimental prototype racer began its Le Mans career in 1963, effectively placing eighth, then 10th in ’65, before retiring from competition.

The centenary of the Rolls-Royce Phantom will be celebrated, too, with a set including the boat-tailed 1928 Phantom that scooped Best in Show at the 2024 Valletta Concours d’Elegance.

Known as 17EX, this ex-Maharaja of Kashmir Phantom was one of four experimental cars built and tested to 100mph, wearing aerodynamic Jarvis of Wimbledon bodywork and powered by a 7.8-litre engine.

British cars of 1950 will be remembered in a further display, while Supercar Boulevard will bring a more contemporary angle to this automotive garden party.
