Life of Jim Clark to be celebrated at Silverstone

| 9 May 2013

Double-Formula 1 World Champion Jim Clark will be honoured at the Silverstone Classic on 26 July.

The commemorative dinner, which is open to members of the British Racing Drivers’ Club and Silverstone Classic competitors, will include special tributes to the Scotsman, widely acknowledged to be one of the world’s F1 greats.

Born in Fife, Clark won the World Championship in 1963 and 1965. In the latter year, he would also become the first British driver to win the Indy 500.

Derek Warwick, president of the BRDC, said: “The Classic is now firmly established as a major event on the international historic motor-racing calendar and it presents us with the perfect opportunity to pay tribute to past champions.

“We hope that this BRDC Silverstone Classic Dinner will become a regular highlight in the years to come.”
