It’s official: Citroën is bringing back its legendary 2CV.
The reimagined Deux Chevaux was unveiled last Sunday (11 October) in concept form at the 2026 Paris motor show, which is being held at the capital city’s Expo Porte de Versailles from 12-18 October.
What’s more, the French car manufacturer has confirmed that a production version will be ready by 2028, which will be exactly 80 years since the original Citroën 2CV first left the factory.
This battery-powered reinterpretation for the 21st century has been conceived to buck the trend for large, heavy EVs.
And Citroën will hope it is as popular as its iconic predecessor which sold a massive 5,114,969 units across its lifetime.

The original Citroën 2CV was revealed at the 1948 Paris motor show.
However, the ‘TPV’ (‘Toute Petite Voiture’, or ‘very small car’) project began in 1936, before the Second World War put plans on hold.
Indeed, 250 pre-production models were going to be revealed at the 1939 Paris motor show but, in the end, all but four were destroyed.
