Jimmy McRae to attack the roads of Barbados

| 7 Dec 2012

Five-time British Rally Champion Jimmy McRae will be one of the big-name competitors at the Barbados Rally Carnival from 15-28 August.

The Scot has competed there twice before, finishing on the podium both times.

The action-packed week promises driving on some of the most challenging roads on the island, kicking off with a RallySprint and concluding with a tarmac stage.

The event is open to three competitive two-wheel-drive classes: Historic, Post-Historic and Classic. Cars ranging from Porsche 911s to Peugeot 205s and Mk2 Escorts are expected to compete.

Class B is open to machines that are not eligible for the competitive honours.

Greg Cozier, founder of the carnival, said: "We started in 2001 to bring some international exposure to our local rallying, but we never really expected it to become as popular as it is."
