ALFA ROMEO ALFETTA SALOON

4-seater 4-door saloon.

When launched in 1972, this was the firs all-new mendium-sixe Alfa chassis for a decade. Conventional comocoque and familiar twincam engines, but new rear-mounted gearbox/final drive unit, and all round independent suspension. 122bhp/1799cc engine at first, but 1570cc version from 1975, and 1962cc from 1977. Stumpy but distinctive style, four headlamps on 1.8, two on 1.6 and rectangulars on 2.0 litre, otherwise few differences. Replaced by new 90 (same platform, new styling) in 1984.
