MERCEDES-BENZ GROSSER (1930-37)
Saloon, cabriolet B, cabriolet C, cabriolet D, cabriolet F.
Gross is the word. Designed for heads of state (ex-Kaiser Wilhelm II and Emperor Hirohito used them), this had an entirely conventional X-braced chassis frame with semi-ellipctics all round, vacuum servo brakes and you could have the Mayback schnellgang 'box (only six forward speeds this time...) if you desired. Optional supercharger boosted output to around 200bhp at the cost of 9 to 10mpg.
