Rarities star at Old Warden show

| 3 May 2017

Gemini Events kicked off its season with the Classic Motor Show at Old Warden on 2 April. A fine turnout of Citroëns featured Martin and Lesley Littlejohn’s 1953 Slough-built Traction Avant, with a replica ’34 Raven Argonette two-berth caravan in tow. No orig- inal Argonettes survive, so this one was constructed two years ago from the original plans. The Traction was exported to South Africa and was a museum exhibit until 1998 when it was brought back to the UK – untouched – with just 320 miles on the clock. Nearby were two vintage Citroëns, the 1927 B14F and ’25 C3 Doctor’s Coupé, both owned by Roger Simpkins.

The Berkeley Enthusiasts’ Club always musters a fine line-up for the Old Warden fixture because the cars were made just down the road in Biggleswade. Club chairman

Geoff Toyer brought his ’59 Four- some, one of only 19 produced. The line-up also included a 1956 SA322 and number 22 of the 163 that were fitted with Anzani engines.

Other rarities included a Fair- thorpe Electron Minor Mk1A, a Davrian Mk5 and a 1963 Panhard PL17B that was imported from the Tarn region in France. It had been left in the open since ’77 and was rebuilt in just 27 months.
