BRMC lends its support to the Sussex Air Ambulance

More than 70 classic car owners raised £4000 for the Sussex Air Ambulance at the Bognor Regis Motor Club’s tour and picnic on 2 September.

An Austin Seven and an Alvis 12/50 SD shared the award for the oldest cars on tour – both being built in 1927. They were joined by British machinery from Allard, Austin-Healey, Daimler, Jaguar, MG, Rover, Sunbeam and Triumph.

Classics from Alfa Romeo, Citroën, Mercedes-Benz and Porsche, added a continental flavour.

The impressive mix of cars headed through the Surrey hills, with some stopping at Leith Hill and Churt, before taking on the last leg of the journey through Fernhurst and on to the finishing line at Old Ditcham Park Farm.

The club’s Ali Green said: “We all had a great time and our raffle meant we raised more than we could have hoped for charity. Everyone’s already looking forward to our next event.”

Next year’s meet will be held from 22-24 March, with money being raised for the charities Against Breast Cancer and Orchid, which fights male cancer.
