Stoneleigh meet hailed a massive success

| 29 Aug 2012

Around 20,000 people flocked to last weekend’s revamped two-day Coventry Festival of Motoring at Stoneleigh Park.

Almost 1000 historic cars and ’bikes were displayed with their clubs or joined the 50-mile Historic Vehicle Run through the towns, villages and countryside of South Warwickshire.

Visitors were treated to shows from the BoldDog motorcycle display team, an exhibit covering 90 years of Jaguar’s history, various market stalls and a craft fair.

Meanwhile a range of new elements, including Dream Rides with the Sporting Bears, raised approximately £2500 for Zoe’s Place, a local baby hospice.

Chairman of the festival Gary Hall said: “It was a huge undertaking to move from one day to two, as well as moving to a new venue, and changing the date from early September to the August bank holiday.

“We were hoping that historic vehicle owners and visitors alike would embrace the move.  They didn’t let us down, and turned up at Stoneleigh in their droves.  Here’s to Coventry Festival of Motoring 2013!”
Next year’s event will take place at Stoneleigh Park on 24-25 August 2013.
