Volvo has recreated the moment that its first mass-produced car rolled off the production line and left the factory 85 years ago using the same model of car and even the very same doors.
At 10am on 14 April 1927, sales manager Hilmer Johansson drove the ÖV4 model through the factory gates in Lundby in Gothenburg. Today, Stefan Jacoby, President and CEO of Volvo Car Corporation, and Olof Persson, President and CEO of the Volvo Group, drove the same model through through the same gates to mark the anniversary.
The Volvo Museum in Gothenburg is also open to the public all day today and, weather dependent, there were plans for be a parade of classic and vintage Volvos in the city centre.
