Classic & Sports Car – Jensen to return in 2026

The Jensen name is making a comeback to the motoring market this year.

Today, Jensen International Automotive has announced plans to launch what it describes as, an ‘all-new ultra-high-performance, luxury British GT inspired by the iconic 1960s Jensen Interceptor’.

Not a lot of details have been revealed as yet, but the Banbury-based company has said the car will be an entirely new, handbuilt model, with an aluminium chassis and a V8 engine, and offered as a low-volume product.

This will be JIA’s first all-new car and a separate venture from the existing business.

Just a single image (above) has been released, hinting at a classic, GT silhouette – JIA promises it will share further details soon.

JIA already has a substantial history with the Jensen Interceptor, through its work restoring, re-engineering and updating classic examples.

This 21st-century reimagining is going to be developed by a dedicated new division of JIA to create ‘a thoroughly modern take on a luxury British GT’.

“JIA’s first car is designed and engineered from the ground up to deliver an unmatched, deeply immersive, V8-powered driving experience,” added David Duerden, Jensen International Automotive Managing Director.

“While it takes inspiration from the Jensen Interceptor launched 60 years ago, this is certainly no ‘restomod’ or ‘continuation’ and will stand proudly as a completely all-new car in its own right.”

The original Interceptor, built between 1966 and 1976 and powered by Chrysler V8 engines, remains a popular, sought-after classic car with an enthusiastic following.

Time will tell if this newcomer can live up to its inspiration.
