TVRs to make their mark at Brooklands

One of the first TVR Granturas off the production line will be auctioned by Historics at Brooklands on 1 September.

The 1959 Series 1 coupé features a 1340cc pre-crossflow engine, short-shift gearbox and 11in drum brakes.

It comes with an extensive history file, would apparently be ideal for competition use, and is estimated to fetch £14-18,000.

Historics will also be offering a TVR Tasmin – which typified the marque’s ‘wedge’ era.

The 1981 280i has undergone a comprehensive restoration, which includes an interior retrim, and has won numerous awards as a result. It is expected to sell for £6-8500.

Historics’ auction director Edward Bridger-Stille said: “While the recent tale of TVR is undoubtedly one of sadness, its place in the history of British sports car

manufacturing is secure, and should ensure significant interest in the best examples going forward.”
