A 1925 Vauxhall 30/98 OE-Type Tourer sold for £179,200 at H&H’s Newbury sale on 5 December.
The mechanically correct car featured chassis number OE250, engine number OE224 and had a replica Velox body built by Steve Penny.
It also had a well-documented history, with appearances in The Autocar in 1927 and Motor Sport in 1949. Its competitive past included entering the VSCC Welsh Trial three times.
A 1965 Aston Martin DB5 predictably scooped the top-lot honours by selling for £268,800. It was followed by a 1955 DB2/4 Drophead that made £168,000.
Other big-money lots included a Invicta reproduction (£106,400), a ally 1986 Proteus C-Type Evocation (£63,280) and a 1950 Bristol 401 (£39,200).
There was plenty of desirable metal that failed to find new homes, however, including an 1987 E30 BMW M3, a 1954 Aston Martin DB2/4 (this time a coupé) and a 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300S.
