A packed lineup of lecturers and photography workshops has been scheduled at the British Motor Museum as part of its ongoing lifelong learning programme. The workshops will enable participants to get to grips with automotive photography, artwork and even to get behind the wheel of their first classic.
Cars through the Lens – 18 March – £40pp
This introductory workshop will help participants take the perfect photograph of a car and learn how to use the different settings on their camera. Topics covered include controlling light and composition, the rule of thirds and perfect angles. Photographer Lara Platman will help participants advance their skills in taking photographs of reflections, interiors and details. The ticket price includes entry into the museum and morning coffee.
Lights, Camera, Cars – 19 March – £75pp
Also run by Lara Platman, this course will enable participants to further develop their photography skills and experiment with lighting. Just six places will be available, ensuring each participant receives personalised and individual guidance.
Sketching from Automotive History – 1 April – £40pp
Art teacher and accomplished pencil sketcher Richard Cook will cover basic drawing hints and tips and rules of composition for pen and ink sketchers of varied abilities. You’ll also learn how to draw metal and painted textures, such as polished and matt surfaces as well as receiving individual tuition and pointers.
Cars trough the Lens goes Studio – 8 April – £75pp
Complementing the skills learned in the ‘Cars through the Lens’ workshop, this course takes budding photographers’ newfound skills from the classroom to the studio, where they will have the opportunity to experiment with composition and lighting.
