Kiwis take a shine to Brit classics

| 3 May 2017

The Auckland Brit & Euro Classic Car Show is now established as the largest gathering of its type in New Zealand, and maybe the Southern Hemisphere. Held on the first Sunday of March at East Auckland’s Lloyd Elsmore Park, distinctives of the show are not only the main theme, but, as event chairman Rev Richard Waugh pointed out “a non-competitive welcome to car owners, free entry to participants and public, plus flags, music and food”. The 5 March fixture drew 650 cars plus some classic motorcycles and an estimated attendance of 7-8000 people. Jaguar was the best-represented marque, with 55 cars including a ’54 MkVIIM sold new to NZ, alongside a D-type rep and an XK120 coupé. See more about the event at www.briteurocarshow.nz
