Le Mans heroes reunited with their winning Jaguar after 24 years

The trio celebrated for putting Jaguar back on top of the world by bringing it a much-vaunted win at a Le Mans in 1988 was recently reunited for the first time with the XJR-9LM in which they scorched to victory.

Johnny Dumfries, Andy Wallace and Jan Lammers met as JD Classics held the second of the three Breakfast Mornings it has planned for this year.

The event – attended by some 600 enthusiasts who took advantage of a question and answer session with the endurance racing heroes – also marked the opening of two new showrooms at the Essex Jaguar specialist's HQ.

Johnny Dumfries said: "It was fantastic to reunite with Andy and Jan and see the XJR-9LM once again; that brought back a lot of memories for us all! To be able to tell our stories to such a passionate motoring audience was fantastic.”

JD Classics boss Derek Hood added: “We were fortunate to have one of Jaguar’s most iconic figures, former Test Driver Norman Dewis join us at the last Breakfast Morning. We were equally lucky to be able to host the 1988 Le Mans-winning Jaguar team – Johnny Dumfries, Andy Wallace and Jan Lammers – and their victorious XJR-9LM car here at JD Classics on Sunday.

"It was very pleasing to see motoring enthusiasts turning up in such large numbers to see our two new showrooms and to listen to what Johnny, Andy and Jan had to say. I am already looking forward to welcoming classic car fans to our next breakfast in the Autumn.”
