Mecum grosses $12million at St Charles

Mecum's annual showpiece auction at St Charles, Illinois, boasted a record number of lots and grossed an enormous $12million even before buyer's premiums were added.

The huge total came from an astonishing 1000 cars that crossed the block at the Pheasant Run Resort from 15-18 September, even though the sale rate was a less than amazing 55%.

Top seller was a 1969 Ford Mustang Boss 429 Fastback that sold for $290,000, more than $100,000 ahead of the bet best lots, a pair of Yenko Chevys.

$121,000 – 1969 Chevrolet COPO Camaro (Lot S170)

$112,500 – 1971 Plymouth Hemi Cuda (Lot S94)

$102,000 – 1969 Pontiac GTO Judge Ram Air IV (Lot F232)

$100,000 – 1958 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible (Lot S91)

$95,000 – 1957 Oldsmobile 98 Convertible (Lot S96)

$90,000 –  2011 Ford Shelby GT350 (Lot S190)
