Timewarp De Lorean given new lease of life

| 28 May 2015

A 1981 De Lorean DMC-12 with a handful of miles on the clock is set to cross the block at Historics at Brooklands’ 6 June sale. It is expected to achieve £34-39,000.

The car has covered just 24 miles in 34 years, and was the last example to leave the factory in 1981, bound for a De Lorean dealership in Newark, New Jersey. It remained in storage until 2000, when it was bought by the vendor and returned to the UK – only to be hidden away for a further 15 years.

Offered in a completely original state, the DMC-12 even retains the factory-fitted delivery and customs stickers on its windscreen, while the battery and tyres have also remained unchanged. Despite being in long-term storage, the tyres have been inflated to the proper pressure, and regular fluid changes have been carried out.
