Four McLaren F1 GTRs will be reunited at this year’s Concours of Elegance to mark the 25th anniversary of their 1-3-4-5 finish at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
The Concours of Elegance will be held in the Fountain Gardens of Hampton Court Palace on 4-6 September.
The quartet will be parked side-by-side, forming the event’s centrepiece display.
The 1995 Le Mans 24 Hours was won by the Kokusal Kaihatsu Racing F1 GTR piloted by Yannick Dalmas, Masanori Sekiya and JJ Lehto, the Harrods-liveried car of Andy Wallace, Derek Bell and Justin Bell also on the podium in third.
Just one place further back was Mark Blundell, Ray Bellm and Maurizio Sandro Sala’s Gulf Racing F1 GTR, the Giroix Racing Team car of Fabien Giroix, Jean-Denis Délétraz and Olivier Grouillard fifth.
These four cars will all appear at September’s event.
It will be a special celebration of a remarkable achievement, given that the McLaren F1 GTR’s Le Mans testing kicked off in January 1995, just five months ahead of the race.
But this didn’t stop the cars claiming four of the top five places overall, as well as the four top spots in the GT1 class.
“The Concours of Elegance is all about shining a light on the most astonishing stories and creations in the motoring world,” said Andrew Evans, Concours of Elegance Director.
“Arguably there’s no more emotive story than that of the F1 GTR; a car that no one expected anything of which then went on to one of the most convincing victories ever seen at the world’s hardest motor race. We’re excited to bring these amazing vehicles together in 2020”.
