Juan Manuel Fangio drove this Mercedes-Benz W196R en route to his third F1 championship

The Mercedes-Benz W196 was one of the most successful machines in the early years of F1.

The W196R that will be at Concours of Elegance is chassis 13, the car that five-time champion Juan Manuel Fangio piloted to victory at the 1955 Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort, while on his way to his third F1 title.

The straight-eight-engined racer will be joined by one of the three-pointed star’s most dominant 21st-century single-seaters.

The Mercedes-Benz W05 triumphed when F1’s hybrid V6 regulations came in

When F1’s hybrid V6 era began in 2014, the Mercedes-Benz W05 was the car to be in.

Mercedes teammates Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg won 16 of the season’s 19 races in the W05, but it was Hamilton who triumphed in the 2014 drivers’ championship.

Visitors to Concours of Elegance 2025 will be able to see this mighty machine up close.

But it will have to compete for visitors’ attention – and the Best in Show trophy – with the third and final car in this Mercedes-Benz line-up: the rotary-powered C111-II experimental vehicle.

The Mercedes-Benz C111-II explored rotary power, but it never reached production

Powered by a four-rotor Wankel engine, the C111-II was an evolution of the eye-catching C111 concept that was unveiled at the 1969 Frankfurt motor show.

With lightweight bodywork made of glassfibre-reinforced plastic, the C111-II was capable of 300kph (186mph).

The gullwing-doored vision of the future from 1970 will cause a stir when it’s shown at Hampton Court Palace next month.
