Classic cars with pop-up headlamps will be in the spotlight at this year’s London Concours, which returns to the British capital from 4-6 June.

They will form the ‘Enlightened: All About Aero’ concours class, which will join a showcase of V12-engined cars, a 10-strong set of Chevrolet Corvettes and much more at the Honourable Artillery Company in central London.

This Lotus Elan Sprint will be at London Concours from 4-6 June

The display will include journalist Harry Metcalfe’s 1972 Lotus Elan Sprint.

The sub-700kg, bright-yellow roadster is a fantastic example of the featherweight hero from Hethel.

It packs a 1.6-litre ‘four’, disc brakes and clever suspension – plus pop-up headlights, of course.

The Sprint variant boasts a sub-7-sec 0-60mph time, too.

The Lancia Stratos is a V6-powered homologation special

It will be joined by another 1970s sports car: the rally-bred Lancia Stratos.

Launched in 1973, the Lancia has headlamps that are hidden in the Marcello Gandini-penned, wedge-shaped bodywork.

The competition car won the World Rally Championship three years on the trot between 1974 and ’76.

The roadgoing model heading to London Concours is one of just 492 made.

Just 26 right-hand-drive Lamborghini Miuras were built – including this car

And another Gandini masterpiece will be on show in central London.

The Lamborghini Miura going to the Honourable Artillery Company was the first right-hand-drive example in the UK and it was displayed at the Earls Court Motor Show in 1967.

It was sold new to businessman Thomas Cook, founder of the eponymous travel agency.

A one-of-125 Maserati Ghibli Spyder will be at this year’s London Concours

Two more Italian gems – a De Tomaso Pantera GTS Group 4 racer and a Maserati Ghibli Spyder – will complete this set of classic cars with pop-up headlights.

The display of around 80 vehicles will change across the three-day event, as concours cars are joined by special celebrations, for example for McLaren supercars on the Tuesday and Jaguar E-types on the Wednesday.

London Concours returns to the Honourable Artillery Company’s London headquarters from 4-6 June 2024.
